Ponderosa Pine Forest features tall pine trees, golden grass, and winding dirt pathways, creating a warm, natural setting for photos. In the distance, Robert Lake peeks through the horizon, and in late April to early May, the area comes alive with some of the Okanagan’s best wildflowers.

Upper Mission - Kelowna

Accessibility: Easy to Moderate (The upper parking lot requires us to go up a hill or move the car to the top parking lot.)
Dog friendly: No (Signs say no dogs but I have seen dogs there;) )
Best Time of Year: Spring, Summer, and Fall
Privacy: Moderate (It's a become more of a hot spot for fellow photographers along with picnickers, but it is usually pretty quiet during the week).

Bertram Creek Regional Park offers two stunning areas to explore, with both upper and lower parking access. The lower lot leads to a pebble beach and earthy brown trails, framed by mountain backdrops and soft grey-brown tones. The upper lot, features sweeping views of Okanagan Lake, along with rocky terrain, tall grasses, and pine trees.

Just past the Cultural District in downtown Kelowna, Rotary Marsh Park offers a peaceful wetland setting with wooden boardwalks overlooking Okanagan Lake and Knox Mountain in the background. From there, we can wander down to Tug Boat Beach to enjoy the shoreline and play by—or in—the water.

Privacy: Moderate (It is a area were people like to walk, so you will get the odd passerby)

Mission Creek Regional Park features a dirt pathway that follows the river, surrounded by mature trees and natural greenery. A small wooden bridge leads down to the rocky riverbed, offering a calm, earthy setting with gentle water and textured landscapes. Great for Fall Colors.

North of Downtown - Kelowna

Accessibility: Easy to moderate (depending on the time of year, winter you have to walk in a ways)

Privacy: Moderate (It's a good trail for mountain bikers, hikers and dog walkers alike, but it's a very large park and it is easy to find your own space away from people).

Knox Mountain Park offers expansive views of Okanagan Lake and downtown Kelowna, with open hillsides, rocky terrain, and winding dirt paths. Native grasses, sagebrush, and pine trees create a natural, sun-washed landscape that feels both rugged and peaceful
Location: Kalamoir Regional Park

Accessibility: Moderate (There are two access points for Kalamoir. One that is on the hill side over looking the Okanagan some of the terrain can be steep and one down at the beach. Usually I start at one spot and drive to the next.)

Privacy: Pretty quiet in the fall and spring. Gets a little busier during the summer.

Gently sloping hillside of open grasslands and scattered trees that descends toward the shoreline. The upper areas feature grassy meadows and mature trees, while the lower portion opens onto a rocky beach along Okanagan Lake, offering clear views of the water and surrounding landscape.

Privacy: Pretty quiet in the fall, winter and early spring. Gets busier as it get warmer and there are more campers.

Fintry Provincial Park features tall, pale grass set within a wide mountain-framed field, with a charming pebble path leading from the parking lot. For those up for a short walk, a flat and easy 10-minute stroll brings you down to a beautiful pebble beach with sweeping views of the lake and surrounding valley.

Privacy: Very Quiet lookout point that rarely has anyone up there.

Oyama Lookout offers sweeping panoramic views of Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake, with rolling hills, rocky edges, and open sky. The elevated viewpoint creates a clean, dramatic backdrop that feels expansive and serene.

Privacy: Depending on the time of year but tends to be quite. Popular for the odd biker and hiker.

Cosens Bay is a quiet lakeside location with open grassy areas, gentle shoreline, and expansive views across Kalamalka Lake. The calm water, wide sky, and natural simplicity make it a peaceful spot for relaxed, natural photos.
